Google My Business
Google My Business is the name of the local pages developed by Google that used to be called Google+ Local, Google Places and Google Maps. Having a presence in this section of the search results is extremely valuable. Why? Because visibility in this section assures a front and center position for your business when people are searching online for the goods and services that you offer. And it gives you the opportunity to showcase your store, your people, your location, your products or services in a highly engaging fashion to those who are in the market for what you provide!
Google My Business pages are positioned in a 3-pack in the prime real estate above the fold and above the organic listings. They feature prominently on mobile phiones where more than 50% of searches are taking place and where purchase intent is high.

Google’s algorithms have been shifting to emphasize the importance of local search. Ranking in the local 3-pack is governed by a totally different algorithm than organic search. Rankings are determined by a number of factors including:
- completeness of profile with photos, videos, details about the business
- your proximity to the geographical center of your location
- number and accuracy of “citations” or mentions in local directories or web sites
- keyword placement within the page
- number of reviews
